Financial Planning

We provide a holistic approach to financial planning with a view of long term investing in good quality, low cost, no commission based investments. We also recommend good quality residential and commercial property, particularly practice premises as these tend to be the best investments for our clients. The aim is to always buy and hold good quality investments with the idea of producing sound capital growth for retirement and beyond. Our association with our Australian Financial Services Licensee (AFSL), Independent Financial Advisers Australia and the association, Independent Financial Advisers Association Australia (IFAAA) ensures we continue providing impartial advice that meets your interests at all times.

Ten Principles of Investing

Our ten principles around investing have always been:

  • Never trust anyone else with your money. Stay in control of your wealth at all times.

  • The best investment is your practice, and the next best investment is your home.

  • Use spouses, family trusts, companies and SMSF’s to protect investments and achieve better after-tax rates of return.

  • Consume less than you earn, and invest the excess in a mix of diverse asset classes, skewed to producing non-taxable unrealised capital gains.

  • Favour direct investments over indirect investments.

  • Carefully use debt to maximise after-tax growth.

  • Emphasise cash flow positive investments to increase net cash flow and decrease risk.

  • Anyone who is dogmatic about a particular product is probably a salesman. Avoid them.

  • High cost managed funds or platforms are typically poor ‘investments.’ Avoid them too.

  • Avoid investing in anything that pays anyone a commission or something that looks like a commission, such as asset based fees.

This has been our investment philosophy for more than a decade and we continue to stand by these principles.
